According to a newly-published study by the Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention--- based on information from the Iowa Women´s Health Study – smokers can cut their risk of lung cancer if they lead an active lifestyle
.
In the study, women who smoked and lead an active lifestyle were 28% less likely to get lung cancer then similar women who lead a sedentary lifestyle. The researchers also said that former smokers who lead an active lifestyle were 37% less likely to get lung cancer.
Study researchers will not go as far as to recommend exercising as a means of preventing lung cancer from smoking. They say the risk is still too great and that there are many other health factors associated with smoking that are not lessened by exercise.
